Black History Month

The one true link between Man and his origins
The one true reason man is what he is today
The black man; stood for what he believed in and kept his faith
Dead Heroes, dead leaders I do salute
February, the black history month, so let’s celebrate

America 1972, a man held high his hand
The black Man came out and shouted in fury
Stop racism! Free and Fare elections
“I have Dream” Martin Luther king’ story
Then America rejoiced in his glory!

America 2008, a man got it grand
Years and Years of hard work, focus and dedication,
A black American President for the first time ever,
“Yes we can” Barrack Obama proclaimed with passion,
And “yes he did”; oh! What an inspiration!

South Africa 1994, a man came out of the sand
27 Years, dead and buried under clouds of the dark cellar
A black South African President for the first time ever,
The Black Pimpernel, Nelson Mandela
Then South Africa rejoiced under the rainbow umbrella!

Kovsie 2009, a new man led the band,
The first black rector, it sure hasn’t been an easy road
What a privilege existing in such a changing world
“You are the Man”, we can all shout out loud
Its BLACK HISTORY MONTH, the least we can do is be proud
